Carpentry

Versatility
There is always something special about natural wood.  It is versitile and beautiful whether left untreated, varnished or even painted.

Sauna Extension

This used to be a 3 seater Sauna although a little uncomfortable for 3 persons as the heater was jutting into the seating area.  The first modification was to create the housing that now holds the heater.  Later the entire sauna was upgraded to an 8 seater. The floor area was increased from 1.8m x 1.3m to 1.8m x 2.9m.  In the picture above all that remains visible of the original sauna is the front wall holding the heater, the rest is new.  It was fitted with downlighting to give an overall luminosity.  It was also fitted with a new roof.

Mezzanine
A 46 sq meter Mezzanine was built to extend the finished goods storage area for a manufacturing facility.  With picking shelve downstairs and Bulk Storage above.  The central area needed to be 3m wide in order to accomidate - a future - two rows of shelving. A wide staircase was necessary to accomidate ease of handling cartons going up and down. The top sports a balastrade for the safety of those working upstairs.

Porthole Window
This window has sentimental value to the landlord but was rotten to the core as was the entire wall.  A six pane window was not available commercially so this window was reconstructed as per the original, using the original panes.
